Wittenberg finishes third in NCAC All-Sports Championship standings

SPRINGFIELD — Wittenberg finished the 2023-24 academic year in third place in the North Coast Athletic Conference All-Sports Championship standings, the league announced on Friday.
In the overall standings, Wittenberg accumulated 81 all-sport points during the spring season and finished with 192.5 points. Wittenberg led the overall standings by 1.5 points following the winter season.
Denison won the 2024 Dennis M. Collins All-Sports Trophy as the All-Sports champion, scoring 202.5 points. The trophy is awarded annually to the school the performs the best across the NCAC's 23 sports. Men's and women's programs are combined to determine the champion, exemplifying the NCAC's commitment to equity and balance among programs.
DePauw was second in the overall standings with 196 points, Ohio Wesleyan was fourth with 172 points, and Wooster rounded out the top five with 162.5 points.
In the men's standings, Wittenberg scored 88.5 points and finished third behind Denison with 97.5 points and Wabash with 93.5 points.
Wittenberg also placed third in the women's standings, scoring 104 points to finish behind DePauw with 115 points and Denison with 105 points.
Points are awarded on a scale from 11 to 1 based on the regular-season standings in each sport. Wittenberg logged 17 top-five finishes in the conference during the 2023-24 academic year, which was highlighted by championships in women's cross country, men's and women's indoor track and field and women's outdoor track and field and co-championships in women's soccer, women's basketball and baseball.
Wittenberg is a two-time winner of the NCAC All-Sports Championship since joining the conference in 1989, as the Tigers earned the Dennis M. Collins All-Sports Trophy in the 1995-96 and 2009-10 seasons.
