Tigers Move Indoors, Fall To OAC Powerhouse Ohio Northern
Wittenberg was unable to keep pace with the Polar Bears in a sweep.
LIMA, Ohio – The Wittenberg women's tennis team was defeated by perennial Ohio Athletic Conference powerhouse Ohio Northern by a 9-0 score in a match moved indoors to the Westwood Tennis & Fitness Center.
The loss dropped Wittenberg to 3-5 on the 2012-13 season, while Ohio Northern, ranked 12th in the Great Lakes Region, improved to 10-3.
The Polar Bears swept the doubles competition, with the closest match coming on the first court, where the tandem of freshman Jaimie Whaley (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) and senior Kristin Wright (Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) dropped an 8-3 decision.
In singles, three of the matches were shortened to 8-game pro sets once the decision was in hand for Ohio Northern.
