Bill joins the Wittenberg Men’s and Women’s golf teams after spending 35 years in public education as a teacher, coach, and administrator. During that time, he had 25 years of experience in coaching football, and both boys’ and girls’ basketball. Since retiring, he has continued to substitute, proctor tests, tutor, and do home instruction for several local school districts.
A graduate of Heidelberg College, he played both football and golf. Bill was recognized twice in Heidelberg’s Athletic Hall of Fame. The first recognition was as a member of Heidelberg’s National Stagg Bowl Championship Football team. The second recognition was as an individual. As a quarterback his senior year, he lead the OAC in passing percentage. Bill was also a 3 time all-OAC golfer his sophomore, junior, and senior years. His senior year he placed 11th individually in the NCAA Championships and was 2nd team All-American. That year, the NCAA championship was held at Reid Park North Course in Springfield.
He and his wife Ann live in Springfield and have 3 grown children, all graduates of Wittenberg. Sarah Plasters (’02), Andy Bonar (’05), and Rachel Hansley (’08). Ann and Bill also have 5 grandchildren.
