Ada, Ohio – The Wittenberg University baseball team traveled to Ohio Northern on Monday evening for a makeup game with the Polar Bears. Ohio Northern would edge out Wittenberg for the 10-7 win. The Wittenberg miscues would be the difference as five Tiger errors would make the difference in the game. The Tigers would record 15 hits on the day while giving up 10 hits to the Polar Bears. Patrick Kenny would help facilitate the Tiger offense with a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning. Kenny would finish 2 for 5 from the plate with two runs driven in and a run scored. Hayden Knox had a perfect day at the dish, going 4 for 4, with two runs scored and one run driven in.
Ohio Northern would take the early lead, plating three runs in the first inning. Gage Carpenter would put Wittenberg on the board in the top of the second inning with a double to left field, scoring Jack Siefert. After ONU added to their lead in the third inning, the Tigers cut the deficit to one in the fourth inning. Matt Baker singled to right field to score Knox to start the scoring rally. Ryan Probst would follow up with an infield single to bring home Jeremy McAleese, as the fourth would end with Ohio Northern ahead 4-3. Carpenter would drive a second Tiger run across in the fifth inning on a single to left field, as Knox would come in to score. Ohio Northern would take their lead out to 8-4 after the fifth inning. The Kenny homer would bring Wittenberg to within two, before a Knox single in the left field gap scored Michael Flynn IV. A whole host of Tigers took the hill against Ohio Northern. Brandon Beegle got the start, throwing one inning of three-hit ball. Aaron Fasano and Michael Martin combined for the next three innings of work, allowing just two hits and striking out one each. Tanner Boros and Andrew Goodpaster each faced six ONU hitters, allowing two hits each with Boros picking up one strikeout and Goodpaster accounting for two. Parker Tietz, Jacob Muhleman, and Andrew Juelg closed out the game for Wittenberg.
UP NEXT: Wittenberg will return to action for their home finale on Wednesday, May 2 when they host NCAC rival Wooster in a doubleheader starting at 5:00 PM.
